Keegan Leach

Thirteen years across different subjects and industries left me with one habit: build so every piece has a reason. No pixel, data table, user flow or requirement gets skipped, because I have seen what happens when one is.

Determining the requirement nobody wrote down, and building it into the system.

The crew logged 60 installs. The dashboard says 47.

Determining the requirement nobody wrote down, and building it into the system.

Building products that can handle the unexpected.

  1. OPS

At Beldon the crew counted 60 done and the dashboard says 47. Which number does the owner get?

  2. KL

Thirteen are on the wall but have never sent a reading. A sensor that has not reported is not protecting anyone and might need replacement.

  3. KL

So we define installed: a device counts once it sends data, and not before.

Once installed meant reporting, the crew and the owner were reading the same number and the misalignment stopped.

  1. INSTALLER

We just got to the property and half of the units are going to need an extra fire alarm. Do we need to wait for a new device map?

  2. KL

Nope, just keep installing as normal. When you scan in the extra devices, just type the unit name in manually, it won't auto populate this time.

  3. KL

Once the device linked to the code scans in, the system will recognize the location and will backfill any data as needed.

The device map can be decided before the crew leaves, so installers arrive knowing what goes where. But it's not required, allowing for flexibility when unforeseen circumstances arise.
